We use the Purasomes range of exosome products at BU Aesthetics™ in Merseyside. Each complex cocktail harnesses the power and combination of purified exosomes and growth factors, plus other key ingredients.

The different bioactive molecules within the products – mostly exosomes, growth factors and cytokines – are derived from the bovine colostrum and collectively referred to as the secretomes (related to being secreted, released, or shed into the source colostrum). The secretomes are the richest source of active elements existing in nature, they do not carry genetic information from the cow, are biocompatible with human skin, anti-inflammatory, and are proven to be the most effective natural bioactive enhancer in skin rejuvenation therapies.

Growth factors are proteins that influence the growth, function and repair of bone, muscle, cartilage, nerves, and connective and skin tissues. Cytokines are anti-inflammatory and work with growth factors to enhance the increased production of cells in damaged tissues.

Each Purasome Complex contains 200mg of 20 different growth factors, 20 billion exosomes, varying concentrations of high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid (HA) for hydration, and other agents for maximum efficacy for their targeted use.

Each Purasomes exosome complex is targeted to achieve different outcomes for skin and hair restoration. Broadly they are used to treat indications including sun damage, lines and wrinkles, dull skin, uneven texture, enlarged pores, crepey or lax, sagging skin, scarring, pigmentation, inflammatory skin conditions including acne and rosacea, and to reduce hair thinning and loss.

Treatment can be used on the face and body, including the neck, chest and scalp, and is suitable for all skin types. Can be used in combination with other regenerative treatments including polynucleotides to further optimise skin improvement results and is especially recommended for hair loss indications following a 4-month treatment protocol combining 4 sessions of Purasomes with 3 sessions of polynucleotides.

The Purasome complex is delivered into the skin by applying the serum during micro-needling with SkinPen Precision so it can reach the deeper skin layers.

This handheld, pen-like device has a single-use cartridge at the tip containing a set of thin needles. These needles create multiple micro-channel injuries, penetrating only into the first couple of millimetres of the skin as the pen is moved over the face or body area. This controlled injury stimulates the body’s natural wound-healing mechanisms to repair and renew the skin tissue, and alongside delivery of the cargo of vital components in the Purasomes exosome complex gets to work on encouraging regeneration.

The number of Purasomes treatment sessions required will vary by treatment area, targeted indication, and individual. Our Independent Nurse Prescriber, Caroline will explain the expectations from treatment and create an optimal programme of 3-5 sessions, spaced 1 month apart.

Following a thorough 30-minute consultation with Independent Nurse Prescriber Caroline, we can determine if you are a suitable candidate for treatment with exosomes using Purasomes products. Caroline will take a full medical history to determine if you have any underlying medical conditions, or known allergies, or are taking any medication that could make you unsuitable or contraindicated for treatment.

Exosome treatment is suitable for men and women of all skin types (colours), so if you are generally in good health, you should be able to have treatment. As the exosomes are derived from the colostrum of cattle, Purasomes may be unsuitable for some vegan patients. It is Halal and Kosher certified.

If you are currently pregnant or breastfeeding or are under 18 years old, you cannot have treatment. Similarly, if you have damaged or broken skin in the area to be treated, or an active bacterial, fungal, or viral infection, this will need to be resolved before treatment.

It is important that you discuss what you hope to achieve from exosome treatment so we can evaluate if it is the right treatment for your concerns. All aspects of treatment, including any risks, will be fully explained during your consultation, allowing you to book your treatment appointment or have some time to go away and think about it. Few treatments are performed on the same day as your consultation appointment.

Everyone’s sensitivity to pain is different and each SkinPen Precision micro-needling treatment varies according to the depth of penetration of the needles and the area being treated. Some areas are more sensitive than others. It is vital that you are comfortable during treatment, therefore, we will apply a topical local anaesthetic or numbing cream to the area 30 minutes before we start to ensure you have a pain-free treatment.

The cartridge at the tip of the device contains very thin needles which move in and out of the skin during treatment. You should only feel a sensation of vibration as this happens due to the speed of the needles.

Treatment is suitable and safe to use on all skin types, including light and dark skin colours, all year round. It can be safely used on the face and body, including the scalp, neck and décolletage or chest area.

The exosome and growth factor complex in Purasomes is highly purified from its original source, does not carry any genetic information, nor pose a risk of transmitting infections across species. It has been proven to be safe and non-toxic.

Downtime is minimal and mostly related to the use of the SkinPen Precision micro-needling device for delivery of the Purasomes complex. You can return to your normal activities immediately afterwards. However, you should expect to appear a little red/pink for a day or two, as if you have a mild sunburn, although skin dryness will improve with an overall feeling of hydration.

During the first 24 hours after treatment, the micro-channels will remain open, and you will be advised to only cleanse with water. It is important not to rub, scratch, exfoliate, or pick your skin, or apply any non-recommended skincare products during the first week after treatment to avoid causing infection, inflammation, or damage including new scarring or pigmentation changes. We also advise you not to wear make-up for 48 hours and avoid exposure to the sun for 48-72 hours, using approved sunscreen as directed.

You may also experience slight swelling of the skin as a natural reaction to the mild trauma, this will resolve quickly. Minor skin peeling may occur as a normal response. Most people find that their skin returns to normal within 24 hours. Full aftercare advice will be given.

Results from exosome treatment will vary by individual and area treated, but you can expect improvements in skin hydration after your first treatment session. More tangible improvements are not immediate because they rely on stimulating the skin to naturally repair itself using the combination of controlled trauma from the micro-needling delivery which stimulates a wound-healing response and the penetration of the Purasomes complex to deliver the cocktail of secretomes and active ingredients to supercharge healing and repair. This will improve during the month between treatment sessions and in the weeks after completion of the programme with smoother, brighter, healthier-looking skin or improvements in hair density.
